Cabins and Hunting Lodge  

The Shady Rest Motel is conveniently located just three blocks from the heart of downtown Custer--nestled in the pines along the slope of a lovely forested hill.  Bordered by city park on two sides, we offer easy access to play equipment for children  and covered picnic areas and grills for family gatherings.  All of our guests receive free passes to the Custer city pool as well as access to our own heated Hot Tub.  Biking enthusiasts and those who enjoy scenic hikes will appreciate that we are just one block from the Mickelson Trail which highlights 109 miles of beautiful Black Hills scenery--not to mention downtown shopping and restaurants--all without the noise and confusion of visitor traffic. 
 
Low rates, clean rooms, and hospitality are hallmarks of The Shady Rest legacy that date back to the 1930's.  Our small cabins open for the season in early May and remain open through to the end of September.  Our beautiful Hunting Lodge is open from April through November and offers great value for both large and small groups.
  
With knotty-pine interiors, these charming, air-conditioned, historic cabins create the rustic feeling of a camping adventure while featuring many of the conveniences of home.  Each cabin offers a unique floor-plan with an equipped kitchenette, dining area, sleeping quarters, and private bathroom.  The cabins also feature cable television and wireless internet.  
  
Below, you will find the amenities that each of our cabins offer.  Rates for these cabins change depending on the number of occupants and the time of year, but generally range from $55/night to $140/night for the ten smaller cabins.  These 10 units also receive an automatic 10% discount for stays of three or more nights (with the exception of the 3rd -10th of August.) 
 
We provide bathroom towels for your use in the cabins and at our hot tub. (You will need to bring your own towels for use off site.) Cookware, tableware, hand soap and dish soap are complementary with your stay.
